October is the national month for supporting women who have been impacted by the fatal disease, breast cancer.
For all those who are still living with this disease, or have loved ones fighting this disease, the month of October has been designated just for breast cancer awareness.
Breast cancer is a disease which has been an epidemic in itself and sees a yearly rise of 3.4%.
Now is the time to come together and take action to help change the survivor statistics that we hope to reduce.
If you take a look at the entire world, almost 35% of the global diagnoses are from young women.
In 2017, the united states reported more than 13,000 women below the age of 40 diagnosed with the disease.
This is exactly why all women should know about breast cancer and should be aware of how common the disease is.
Here are some interesting things to know about breast cancer:
#1. Research reveals that breast cancer is the most common type of cancer found among women between the age of 15 and 39.
Despite young women, breast cancer is very rarely studied. There are current researchers, doctors, and oncologists who are making incremental strides towards comprehending the environmental factors which ultimately cause this type of cancer among women.
#2. Majority of women under 40 years old, can find breast tissues that are dense and can sometimes be prevented by annual mammograms.
Around 85% of young women who are diagnosed with breast cancer usually detect it themselves.
#3. Research shows that breast cancer if detected before the age of 40, will differ from the kind of cancer that is seen in elderly women.
This clearly implies that there should be different types of treatment for women all ages.
#4. When breast cancer is found among women below 40 years of age, it can become more critical.
Women under the age of 40, face huge mortality rates and a state of metastatic recurrence. This means that there are higher chances of cancer spreading to different parts of the body.
#5. Metastatic breast cancer can’t be cured and there are nearly 1000 women below the age of 40 who die of this.
#6. The treatments of breast cancer have significant impacts on young women such as:
- Sexual dysfunction
- Menopause ahead of time
- Psycho-social problems
#7. Treatments like chemotherapy, have an impact on fertility and doctors always don’t discuss this with the patients before treating them.
#8. Breast cancer is a disease, which affects African American women who are under 35 years of age and have twice as high of a chance than Caucasian women.
Breast cancer is serious, and so many women suffer from it every year.
