Are you one of those people who believe that having good skin care starts with your Genes?

Some people believe that good skin is all gene related, which does play a big part in your skin care. But what if we told you that by making a few changes to your diet, it can result in better looking, healthy skin.

Have you ever heard that by eating carrots, you will have improved eyesight? Or have you ever heard that if you eat a walnut a day it is good for your brains? Take the phrase, “beauty comes from within”. This statement can literally be applied to having a healthy diet and maybe what we should be saying is, “beauty comes from within- your food!” The American Society for Clinical Nutrition found that higher intake of vitamin C was associated with lower likelihood of a wrinkled appearance among middle aged American women. The good news is, vitamin C is found in more foods that you might actually think. Keep reading, we’ve got a list of Vitamin rich foods that you’ll want to start implementing into your diet for healthier, fresh looking skin.

1. Strawberries

One cup of strawberries contains 140% of vitamin C, which is more than eating an orange. Not only is vitamin C key to a healthy immune system, but it does amazing things for our skin. Vitamin C helps produce collagen, which keeps skin tight and smooths fine lines.

2. Lentils

We all know that we should be healthy, but do we know what our body needs to be healthy? Today we are getting specific and sharing what YOUR body needs to be strong, healthy, and feeling good. 1. Diet First let’s talk about how important it is to maintain a good diet. Your body needs a balanced diet to get the right amount of nutrients everyday. Good quality food and a combination of carbohydrates, proteins, fats, vitamins and minerals. Without these 5 things your body wouldn’t survive. 2. Exercise Regular exercise works hand in hand with nutrition to keep your body strong and healthy. Not only does physical activity help you maintain a healthy weight, it aids in maintaining bone mass, lowers blood pressure, cholesterol and blood sugar levels, reduces stress and improves your quality of sleep. 3. Water The amount of water your body needs to stay healthy depends on how active you are and what type of climate you live in. Your body requires water to regulate its temperature, lubricate and cushion your joints, produce urine, perspiration and bowel movements and protect your spinal cord. Stay hydrated by keeping a filled water bottle with you at all times. 4. Sleep Lack of sleep can lead to an increased risk of diabetes, heart disease and psychiatric conditions, as well as a greater likelihood for motor vehicle

Sleep. We all love it, we all hate it. Why is healthy sleep good for you? Healthy Sleep is crucial for your health. In fact, sleep helps repair your heart and blood vessels. Without getting a healthy amount of sleep, it leads to major health problems like, heart disease, kidney disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, stroke and so much more. On average, adults should receive between seven and nine hours of sleep each night. If you are receiving this much sleep per night, then it’s a good sign that your body is on track and leading a healthy life.

  • Here’s a healthy sleep checklist,
  • You fall asleep within 15-20 minutes of lying down to sleep.
  • You regularly sleep a total of seven to nine hours in a 24-hour period.
  • While in your bed, your sleep is continuous—you don’t have long periods of lying awake when you wish to be sleeping.
  • You wake up feeling refreshed, as if you’ve “filled the tank.”
  • You feel alert and are able to be fully productive throughout the waking hours
  • Your partner or family members do not notice any disturbing or out of the ordinary behavior from you while you sleep (no snoring, irregular breathing, restlessness, etc.)

Rule of thumb, eat crappy, sleep crappy. Ever wondered what unhealthy, lack of sleep leads to? Does not getting enough sleep really affect your body? Yes, it affect
